5. Reading Practice & Comprehension

Reading is more than just saying words, it’s about understand what you are reading and enjoying what you are reading.

Welcome to the First Grade Book Club

This is an opportunity to build enthusiastic readers!

Book Club Units give your child an opportunity to practice the skills they are learning with real books. Each unit includes a simple reading routine and activities designed to help your child read, think, write, and create. This is where you will find buttons that will lead you to Book Units you might like to read with your child. Don’t worry if your child is reading independently just yet, that will come with practice. I will add reading levels to help you choose books that may be less challenging. Henry and Mudge the First Book, is a fun one to start with so I have linked it above, along with a suggested format to follow for each book unit.

If you feel that your child is not quite ready for these books yet check out some of the books that will soon be in the kindergarten bookshelf.

Henry & Mudge the First Book is a good one to start with, even though it is a higher reading level it sets the ground work. Scroll up above for more details.
