After 25 years as an elementary teacher, I watched many children lose their love of reading when school life changed in 2020. This store is my way of handing you the exact book-club units, comprehension packets, and playful activities that kept my own students excited and progressing year after year.
Think of this site like a cozy department store. Each floor is carefully stocked so you can quickly find exactly what your child needs right now.

Welcome to the Foundations Floor!
This is the perfect starting place for kindergartners and early readers. Here you’ll meet the Letter Friends — friendly alphabet puppets and hands-on activities that make learning letter sounds fun and memorable. These are the same tools I used in my classroom to help children master the building blocks of reading and begin their journey with confidence and joy. The Letter Friends are designed to be taught in carefully planned units, not as random individual puppets.

I know how busy you are! Prepping all the Letter People puppets can be very time-consuming—especially when you're only making one or two at a time. Cutting out all those colors, dealing with paper waste, and trying to be efficient is a lot of work.

Welcome to the Parent Resources Floor!
This floor is just for you. Here you’ll find helpful tips, simple guides, and practical resources drawn from my 25 years in the classroom — the same ideas that supported both my students and their parents. Whether you need encouragement, pacing suggestions, or quick “what worked for me” advice, this is your space to feel supported as you teach reading at home.

A few essential items I recommend for first, second & third graders…
Composition notebook with pre-primer handwriting paper(Available at Walmart or Amazon for about $3.95.) for first graders, a regular composition book for all other grades
Pencils with good erasers ( Ticonderoga are the best)
Crayons, colored pencils, thin & thick Crayola markers
Red pencil or red pen for marking spelling patterns and Red Words
Dry-erase board, marker, and eraser ( optional but very beneficial for variety)
Sentence strips to be cut to make flash cards ( or index cards will also work)
Scissors
glue sticks

Have you heard about papperbackswap.com? This is a sight that you can exchange books you no longer want and receive other books you might like. You set up an account, post books you no longer want. When someone wants the books you have posted you pay for the shipping and your receive credit that you can use for books you do want. If you do not see the book you want you can list it as a “wish list” and when if become available they will give you first chance to order it. It’s a great way to build up your library. Book you post and receive must be in good condition. I think you get 2 free credits when you first sign up. I have posted many of my book there. Check it out if you are interested.
