Before you begin, you need to know where to begin

Every child begins in a different place.

Some children are just beginning to know, the letter names and sounds and some already know all of the letters and sounds., but need to learn how to put the sounds together to make words. Some need help with he irregular sounds combinations and some need help understanding what they are reading.

Before starting lessons, it's helpful to take a few minutes to see what your child already knows. This isn't a test…. It's simply a way to discover your child's strengths and identify the next step in their reading journey.

During this quick assessment, you'll discover:

• Does your child know the names of the uppercase and lowercase letters out of order and independently?

• Does your child know the sound for each letter?

• Can your child blend sounds together to read simple words?

• Is your child ready to begin reading simple books?

Once you know where your child is, you'll know exactly where to begin.
