Establishing a Routine
Daily Routine Guidelines
Choose a regular time each day
Keep your schedule consistent
Begin with your ABC and phonics drill
Follow your child’s attention and energy
Keep lessons short and focused
Short, meaningful lessons are far more effective than long ones.
Why This Matters
Building structure and consistency from the very first day helps your child feel secure and ready to learn.
A predictable routine makes learning feel comfortable, manageable, and even enjoyable.
Start with a Routine…
The most important thing you can do is set a consistent time for school.
These early years are the foundation for everything that comes next.
Children thrive on routine. They like to know:
when school begins
how long it will last
and it will be a positive experience
What Your Routine Can Look Like
For kindergarten, I recommend:
2–3 hours per day
3 days per week
consistent days and times
Keep it simple and manageable. You can always build from there.
