Mrs. Bee's Classroom Essentials
Before you begin, I recommend gathering a few simple supplies. Most of these are inexpensive and can be found at your local dollar store or office supply store.
Some of My Favorites:
ABC Banner
One of my favorite teaching tools! Purchase an inexpensive ABC banner (about $1.25) and cut the letters apart to make your own set of alphabet cards. They're perfect for practicing letter names, ABC order, and quick daily reviews, and playing the abc train game.
Pre-Primer Writing Paper
Ideal for beginning writers who are learning to form letters and write simple words. ( Also available at the Dollar Store)
Child Scissors and Glue Stick & Pencils (Ticonderoga pencils are the best and worth the extra cost)
These items are all you need to create your Letter Friends and complete many of the hands-on activities.
Pencil Grips
Some children naturally hold a pencil comfortably, while others develop awkward pencil grips that make writing more difficult. A simple pencil grip can encourage a more comfortable and efficient grasp.
I happen to have a limited supply of these available while they last.

ABC Assessment Flash Cards
Assess uppercase and lowercase letter recognition separately so you know exactly which letters need more practice.

How long should we practice each day?
My child still mixes up b and d. What should I do?
Should I teach the letter name or the sound first?
What if my child already knows some of the letters?
When do I move on to the next Letter Friend?
